The Challenge
IMDb is a well-known popular website that focuses on providing you with the latest updates on movies and series from around the world. If you're looking for your next cinematic delight or a new series to binge on - then IMDb is just the website for you! The idea to redesign the website came about whilst browsing the current site. The current site is quite dark and cluttered with minimal emphasis on the hierarchy of elements and little to no distinction between different sections on the site.
My Role
As a designer, I felt the need to give this website a bit of a facelift in order to achieve a better user experience for anyone using the site. The desired outcome was for the website to display all the necessary info to the user without being overbearing in its approach.
The Result
The site redesign offers 2 themes - an enhanced dark theme that is in line with the original site design as well an introduction to new light version of the site. Within each theme, there is a sense of hierarchy in the placement of elements as well as distinction in the different sections that make up the home screen. In certain instances there were sections that were broken up and featured new movies and series as a separate section. This has been resolved by adding filters to one section whereby you can switch between 'New, Popular and Coming Soon'. The overall hope is that the new design is more pleasing to the eye.
